Donald Wayne  Tirey

Donald W. Tirey, age 78 of Bountiful, UT/Rockwall, TX, passed away January 4, 2010.  He was born July 27, 1931 in Ralls, TX, to William & Madge (Caskey) Tirey and was raised in Littlefield, TX.  After spending five years in the US Air Force, he entered Texas Tech University, where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1959.  After marrying, Don and his wife moved to Utah where they raised their family, but always returned to Texas and their roots.  Don was always smiling and kind, he never met a stranger.  He especially loved to play with his grandchildren, travel, and take tons of pictures.  Don was a devout Christian who was constantly studying the Bible.  He was an active member of Southside Church of Christ in Salt Lake City, UT for 50 years.  He will be missed.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Jerry (Holt) Tirey; daughters: Marina Tirey, Lisa Tirey-Butler & her husband Michael Butler, and Vanessa; sisters: Patsy Pierce, Bonnie Tirey, and Jean Delgadillo & her husband Luis; grandchildren: James, Annika and Grace Tirey-Butler, Tyler and Lexi Tirey Irvine; sisters-in-law: Jimmie Beaty & her husband Tom, and Judy Holt; brothers-in-law: Joe Holt and Aubrey Holt & his wife Carolyn; and son-in-law: David Irvine.  Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter: Caroline Tirey Irvine (August 9, 2009).

Funeral services will be held 3:00pm, Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Eastridge Church of Christ, 485 N. FM 549, Rockwall, TX, with Minister Dyrle Phillips officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church Saturday afternoon prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00pm.
