Josephine Crist Eshelman, age 90 of Rockwall, TX, passed away January 9, 2010. She was born July 16, 1919, to Edward Joseph & Mary (Billau) Crist. A native of Wichita, KS, she lived there until she was united in marriage on December 28, 1941, to Hamel Kai Eshelman, who died July 19, 1991. Josephine was a retired librarian from the public library in Garden City, ID. She was an active member and past president of the Rockwall County Genealogical Society. Josephine served on the committee for the Rockwall County Salvation Army and the local AARP, was a lifetime board member of the Rockwall County Committee on Aging, and was active in several Senior Citizens Clubs. She was a member of the order of Eastern Star #475 in Wichita, KS, and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rockwall and its choir.
 
She is survived by her sons: Ronald Eshelman & wife Lusinda of Houston, TX, and Larry Eshelman of Rockwall, TX; daughter: Margaret Norton & husband Brian of Portland, OR; grandchildren: Michelle, Scott, Dustin and Valerian; and five great grandchildren. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Hamel Kai Eshelman; and brother: John Crist.
 
A memorial service with an Eastern Star ceremony will be held 10:00am, Saturday, January 16, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Cheryl Taylor officiating. Inurnment will take place in Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita, KS, at a later date.

On behalf of all members of the Rockwall County Genealogical Society, please accept our condolences in the passing of your beloved mother and grandmother.  She was a very special friend to all of us, and she will be greatly missed.  Our meetings will not be the same without her.

Mrs Eshelman was a women full of curiosity, empathy and generosity. She always had  a story to tell. I will remember her for a life well lived. I pray her family be comforted during this time of loss. She will be missed.

I knew Jo from church. She was an active member in the choir, and had a beautiful singing voice. She never missed a service, and she was always seen wearing a beautiful smile. Jo was a wonderful person and sure left a great mark on this planet. She will be dearly missed by all.
