Elijah Sharp, Jr., passed away peacefully on February 25, 2010, at his home in Garland, TX, surrounded by his loved ones. He lived to be 77 years old. Elijah was born December 30, 1932, in Tenaha, TX, to Elijah Sr. and Merdie (Roberts) Sharp. He enjoyed the years he spent truck driving, but more important to him was the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted family man and a serious fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

 

Elijah is survived by his wife: Ruth Sharp of Garland, TX; children: Tonia and Broderick Sanders of Wylie, TX, Carolyn and Anthony Brown of DeSoto, TX, Debra and Otis Womack of Lancaster, TX, Sherlyn and Danny Cox of Dallas, TX, Jerry and Brenda Sharp of Garland, TX, Victor and JoAnn Jones of Garland, Rodney Jones of Dallas, Willie B. Jones III of Mesquite, TX, and Dane E. Jones of Texarkana, TX, and Dorothy Jones of Dallas; 32 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; sister: Stella Ruth Norman of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Gary Lynn Sharp, daughter Brenda Joyce Evans, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

 

Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Living Word Christian Church in Garland with Rev. James Strange officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

"Pops" was known and loved by us dearly. He was very much a gentle giant, always kind and loving to all who know him.  Pops and Ruth always had a loving and warm home for those who stopped by.
