E.O.  Jones

E.O. Jones was born in Dallas, Texas, on January 10, 1943. After a lengthy, hard fought battle with cancer, he passed away on February 26, 2010. At the time of his passing he was comforted by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his father Elvin Odell Jones, Sr., his mother Onava Jones, and brothers Mike Craig and Ronnie Jones.

Mourning his passing are his wife Peggy Jones of Rockwall, daughter Andrea Lindigrin and her husband Jeff of Rockwall, son Ashley Jones and his wife Leslie of Rockwall, sister Sue Jones and her husband Bill of Rockwall, and sister Barbara Parks and her husband Alan of Paris, Texas; and the real joys of his life, his five grandchildren Emily, Colton, Preston, Lauren and Mackenzie as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Rockwall High School class of 1961, E.O. was a lifelong resident of Rockwall. A butcher by trade, E.O. was an extremely hard working man, knowledgeable and dedicated to his profession. He also was a talented poet. His passion for writing was mostly shared with his family; however, a few of his poems have been published.

Known for his dry wit and sense of humor, he was a compassionate man with a gentle nature. After retirement, he most enjoyed spending time with Peggy, often taking short trips together and eating out at their favorite restaurants. His hobbies included gardening, going to the horse races and watching his favorite sports teams. The joys of his life were centered around spending time with his grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 1, 2010, at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the First Baptist Church in Rockwall.
