Billy J.  Vandiver

 

Billy J. Vandiver, age 80 of Rockwall, TX, passed into eternal life on March 3, 2010. He was born November 20, 1929, in Wichita Falls, TX, to Henry Floyd & Lillie Belle (Smith) Vandiver. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict. He was a miller by trade, and was employed with Anderson Clayton Feeds and General Mills before retiring and traveling all over the world with the love of his life, wife Coleene. Billy was a good Christian man till the end, and his latest phrase was “keep a positive attitude and everything will be okay!” He was a member of Highland Oaks Church of Christ.

 

Billy is survived by his son: Jay Vandiver & wife Paula of Rockwall, TX; daughter: Letitia V. Tarkington & husband Bob of Texarkana, TX; grandchildren: Jenny Swick & husband Danny, Alicia Bell, Joel Vandiver & wife Kristina and Brianne Binyon, all who called him “Honey”; great grandchildren: Melody, Tyler, Bradley, Bailey, Lliam, Sophie, Haven, Asa and Maverick; and two brothers.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years: Coleene Vandiver; his mother: Lillie Belle Vandiver; and grandson: Brandon Vandiver.

 

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Eastridge Church of Christ, 485 N. FM 549, Rockwall, TX, with Danny Swick, Joel Vandiver and Paul Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to Caring & Sharing, Highland Oaks Church of Christ, 10805 Kingsley Rd, Dallas, TX 75238.
